How Did We Get Started?

Believe it or not, it’s a question we answer all the time. How does an average family end up managing vacation rentals? Well, it all started with an act of kindness…

Christina has sold real estate for years, and one day, there was a client who had packed all of his belongings on a truck and was on his way to the home she’d sold him here in Myrtle Beach. Just then, his employment changed, which meant he could no longer qualify for a mortgage. At the same time, a current client had asked Christina to keep an eye out for an investment that could provide passive income. Seeing a need for both, Christina matched them up and there it was- a happy investor and a no-longer-homeless client.

But there was a snag. The trust company would only approve the investor’s transaction if there was a licensed Property Manager involved. With just a little prodding, Josh decided he would obtain his Property Manager in Charge license, which would allow the transaction to be completed, as Lucky Enough could take over the long-term management of the condo. It felt good to be able to help.

Not long after that, a wonderful family from New Jersey appeared on the scene, hoping to make the longtime dream of owning a beach property a reality. Of course, it’s much easier to afford a place at the beach that helps pay for itself, so in the course of their property search, Christina spoke with them about short term rental. It was the perfect solution- the family got their oceanfront condo- now known lovingly as the OG Garden City Paradise- and they were able to produce some income along the way. Property Managers charge a lot, and their quality can be inconsistent, so it was hard to find one that Christina felt comfortable recommending.

So, what do you do when you can’t find someone to do things the way you think they should be done? Well, you do them yourself, of course! And that is how the Short Term Rental division of Lucky Enough was born. As part of that, our in-house maintenance, cleaning and linens came along, each part designed to allow our owners to meet the people in charge of maintaining the quality of their short-term rentals. We take pride in being one point of contact to handle every aspect of each unit.

So, we like to say that this is a company founded in acts of kindness and love. Those principles continue to guide our growth and decision-making, as they always will. We’ve been Lucky Enough to team up with owners who share the same values, and we will continue to grow responsibly, searching for owners and renters who want to be Lucky Enough to own a place in Myrtle Beach!
